The development covered half of a city block facing the central square and the main street in a new district in Uppsala, which contributed to the establishment of a vibrant urban character and clearly defined spaces that fostered community interaction. A total of 161 apartments were distributed across three buildings of six, eight, and ten floors, which were finished with rendered facades featuring a regular design yet detailed with fine plaster variations that accentuated the volumes, giving each structure a unique flair amidst the cohesive look. The two tallest buildings shared the same ground floor, which contained a health center providing essential services to residents, promoting well-being and convenience. The houses varied in size and height, creating visual interest, yet they were connected through a common material language that unified the ensemble. The open block structure allowed for views deep into the site, enhancing the perception of space, while the street and courtyard facades created a dynamic interplay that invited both pedestrians and inhabitants to engage with their surroundings. This thoughtfully designed environment fostered a sense of belonging and community, making it more than just a residential area; it became a lively hub where people could socialize, work, and thrive. Additionally, the integration of green spaces and communal areas within the development not only enhanced the aesthetic quality but also provided residents with opportunities for relaxation and recreation, further enriching their living experience in the heart of Uppsala.
